Sleepless @ home – When Uranus Strikes! Natal & Transit

Posted: June 2, 2015 by admin

“I love my house, but I can’t seem to get good sleep – I am constantly restless”, a friend  lamented sheepishly after we had exchanged pleasantries. “I’m constantly at logger heads with dad, and generally my own house has become a prison…I just don’t know why I keep going back to my childhood memories and keep feeling angry towards dad”

Welcome to Uranus in the Fourth House! This House covers many areas of life, the most obvious of which being your actual physical home, your refuge from the world, where you hang your hat and kick back and relax in the comfort of your personal space. Because Uranus is a planet that resists being tied down, wanting to run off and do its own thing, the Fourth House Uranian probably bounces back and forth between being a loving caregiver and an aloof non-presence in the home, even if they are physically there. Uranus is represented by a cross over a circle flanked by two crescents. Two sides of receptivity and in this case the saying the right hand never knows what the left hand is doing comes into play.

It can also be that, many Uranus-in-Fourth born’s received this exact kind of nurturing during their own childhoods, and often didn’t receive enough emotional support. They really do have good intentions, however. There will be unusual, eccentric items in the home, quirky gadgets, and there will typically be something strange about the home itself. But wait: there’s more! The Fourth House also governs our parents and parenting in general, particularly the parent who was the lesser influence although some astrologers believe the Fourth House parent represented here is strictly the mother or mother figure, while others insist it’s the father/father figure. My personal view is it’s often both. Additionally, it encompasses our ancestry, traditions, and how we behave behind closed doors.

Uranus is the genius who Knows. It is said that genius and madness have only a thin line between them. Uranus erases that line. Whether it brings total chaos or revolutionary new advances (frequently both) its effects are never dull. Whatever it contacts as it transits around your horoscope will be changed, usually with dramatic suddenness. People with this position often possess the ‘wanderlust’, are fond of adventure and enterprise. Anything settled in their lives. does not .appeal to them. They should not struggle against this disposition, but endeavour to harmonise it, so far as may be with their general welfare.

Uranus takes approximately 84 years to come full circle. This slow-moving planet’s transits are long-lasting, and each transit takes its time to unfold. As Uranus transits a point in our chart, retrogrades back over it, and then hits it again in direct motion, it imparts its own special wisdom upon the point in question—the areas of lives and parts of our psyches ruled by that point.

How Uranus affects our lives depends very much on whether we resist its influences or we try to work with the planet of independence, liberation, and enlightenment. Uranus speeds up our tempo in order for us to consider taking risks and making changes.
