Abundance and Empress

Posted: March 1, 2011 by admin

There are time I find it hard to explain to people even when they are not “really rich” in the technical sense there is abundance in their life and more can be created.

Most times, its standing near their doorway yet they are looking the other way. Abundance can also be defined as what makes us happy. And it is not just about the physical possessions we own or our financial net worth.

At times we find in some relationships – where just being with that particular person for a while makes us incredibly happy. Or doing something with a whole herated effort and the sense one gets upon it’s manifestation! It could be a good day at gym, buying flowers for yourself, watching the sun stream in your children’s room while you watch them sleep. It could also be having wine with a close friend and pouring your heart out and knowing that he/she understands and loves you for who you are.

Abundance also can come from doing the things you love, good health, and a life that lets you live according to your values and beliefs.

In Tarot, The Empress is associated with abundance – she is symbolic of creation of life, of love, art or business. She symbolizes planet Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

The Empress card is a beautiful bright card when it appears in a reading. She epitomizes most of the qualities a mother has – sensible, patient, loving, giving, generous. The card also symbolizes all the material wealth.

Great post, Anisha! I epslciaely resonate with the storytelling bent as the cards told me stories when I was 4 1/2 yrs old. My Mom handed me the booklet which I promptly put back in the box, Mawmmm! I am not doing a reading. The cards are telling me stories. I have a deep appreciation for that moment as I do your presenting this post.

Great post Anisha Congratulations!!Tarot is indeed so rich in imagery, and I have found (having read tarot since college) that I have gradually migrated towards oracle decks. Strolled away from the traditional Fool, Magician, etc.. toward animal spirits, faeries, and image decks without little white books, like the Soul cards. Mo! Your art would be great for this, just putting a bug in your ear- your readings/blogs are fabulous and intuitive, it would be lovely to pull some of them out of a pile and interpret solely from the imagery ! Just\’ sayin\’ Gneiss ..

There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more! Added to FeedBurner as well

Hi Anisha, this reading warmed my heart. Not a total surprise or AHA! moment because I felt deeply within myself this is my path. However it is wonderful to see it supported with such clarity by the Tarot. Your blog tarotbyanisha goes straight to the heart of the matter. Cheers Lynette

Anisha baby, something that I couldn\’t put better myself. I personally love 3 card spreads and use them more than anything else for my own readings and sometimes 3 sets of 3 cards for others.Best of luck though. I hope everything works out for you in SE Asia. Love
