I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s only me, I walk alone
My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
’til then I walk alone (“Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”)
I don’t want to be alone. Not now at least – she said softly. I looked at the lovely woman facing me. A very successful executive in media. Well! I just turned 33 and it’s freaking me out now. I mean the men are there, sure – but not for marriage. It’s fun hanging out with them but I don’t think I can see myself with any one of them on a permanent basis. And why is that? I asked her gently. She laughed wryly. Well, for one, most of the friends hang out with me beacuse I am uncomplicated – I make no demands emtotionally.
We are all very successful and are sorted as to what we want. But to tell you the truth, I think this “hanging out” bit is working too well in our busy lives and now I want more she said wistfully.
Would you marry someone who is not so successful, not from your media world or could even be divorced? The pretty face recoiled with disgust – never! Money is very important and I have worked very hard to be where I am today and he better be very successful.I can do without love but money is very important. And please no second hands!
She shuffled the cards.
Core of the reading along with the surrounding cards was The Hermit. The Hermit stands alone on the top of a mountain with a lantern in his hand. When The Hermit appears in your tarot reading, it may represent the loneliness you feel at the time. And remember, it is possible to feel more isolated and lonely in an unhappy relationship or marriage than when you are actually on your own!
I believe one of the greatest fears we have is the fear of loneliness, especially the loneliness that one feels when we are without a lover. This fear traps many people into unfulfilling or destructive relationships, or leads us into pursuing the wrong person just to avoid being on our own.
We all go through rough patches in our lives, all of us at some point, will have a life that is a bit…messy. No matter how wise, mature or cautious we are, it is bound to happen. Its a part of life..Some may choose to be vocal about it and the rest will grin and bear it.
But, rarely is anyone spared the sting of it. In the end, it is us – ourselves – that must clean up.
While our friends and family may help us through the hard times, we all still must have moments we go through alone. Those nights of sleeplessness, fits of sobbing and days of just aching.
Eventually it must be our decision to get up on our own two feet and take steps forward. It must be our own feet that carry the weight of our baggage. We must be the ones to dig ourselves out of whatever hole we have found ourselves in.
Sounds lonely? 🙂 Maybe, but it is all part of this crazy, happy, sad, magic, tragic, wonderful, terrible, irresistible ride.
And when we, come out of the other side, it will be a great day indeed. Now, don’t get me wrong, I would love to have a little “conversation” with the person who made that law that it is through hard times that we grow. Why couldn’t that be through hard laughter or something a little more enjoyable? I don’t know, but it’s not. And we just have to deal with it.
Yes, it is true that still, sometimes things seems a bit overwhelming. If this is the case, the Hermit card is suggesting you take time out for inner reflection. I believe you can transform your loneliness into solitude. Focus on contemplating positive opportunities and outcomes. Spend your time reflecting on past joys and accomplishments.
Consider what you can do with your life to create more satisfaction and fulfillment.
The Hermit is saying ‘take your time and chill out, don’t make any hasty or impetuous decisions.
